Frozen Mocha Frap

Let's talk about COFFEE! I was never much of a coffee drinker before starting THM back in early 2013. Since then I have developed a great respect for a good cup of Joe. I mean a good quality roast like Trader Joe's Costa Rican or Ethiopian Brews (ahhhhh...)
I appreciate a cup of good hot coffee, but I prefer my hot drinks to be some healthy herbal tea blend. My favorite way to drink the bean is FROZEN! Below are a few variations that I LOVE! Packed with protein, antioxidants, and flavor...they are the best! And they aren't full of terrible ingredients and tons of sugar that will leave your body depleted and your mind feeling guilty about your drink choices. Take a look at some of these popular fast food freezies!

Dunkin Donuts Coffee Coolata

I have to admit, this was my personal vice! Suicide by coffee, right here! Weighing in at 240 calories with 49g of sugar, 6.5g of fat, and 90mg of sodium; this may not be the worst choice, but it certainly isn't the best!

McDonald's Frappe Mocha

Next on the list of bad coffee choices is the Frappe Mocha from McDonald's. Personally, I have boycotted McD's for years now, but seeing as it is in the top 5 most popular fast food drinks in America, I thought it was appropriate. This frozen health hazard offers 560 calories, 24g of fat (a whole day's worth of Saturated fat which is 15g), 70g of sugar (WHAT?!), and 160mg of sodium. These stats are comparable to a Big Mac, although your insulin would be way better off with the burger!

Sonic's Mocha Java Chiller
Another one of my old habits, the Java Chiller, is the worst of the bunch. It has a few less calories than the McKiller, but still contains more than any one meal should have - 530 calories! It also has 18g of fat, 200mg of sodium, and a whopping 76g of sugar!!!

So if you are looking for an easy (and tasty) way to take years off your life...this would be the way that I'd want to go!

But it's not...

So I offer you an alternative! A protein packed, sugar free, dairy free, metabolism boosting, fat burning, muscle building, energy revving frozen coffee drink from heaven! Ok, maybe not from heaven, but it's still AMAZING!

Frozen Mocha Frap

Combine in blender:
3/4 cup cold coffee *My hubby makes a pot every morning, I let it cool, and keep it in a glass jar in the fridge until about mid-morning when I need my coffee drink!
1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk or (my fave) full fat coconut milk *I like to add a tsp or so of Virgin Coconut Oil to add for extra metabolism boosting, immune stimulating, coconutty goodness!
1/4 tsp Glucommanan*
1/8 tsp Pure Stevia Extract Powder*
1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
Splash of Vanilla
Pinch of Salt (Pure Celtic Sea Salt* for awesome re-mineralization!)

Blend well.

Add 1 cup of ice and blend again.

Add 1 Scoop of Protein Powder and blend until mixed and "fluffy".
